    Description

Original WWI Accolade showing Columbia (dressed in white, with a billowing American flag behind her) bestowing gratitude to a doughboy soldier kneeling before her. The name of the honoree is inscribed below the image, Adolph L. Young, followed by the additional text. “served with honor in the World War and died in the service of his country. Woodrow Wilson".
Adolph Young lived in West Philadelphia. He was a Private of the 2nd Division, 9th Infantry Regiment. Adolph died November 7, 1918, and he is buried in Meuse- Argonne American Cemetery,  Romagne France.
Matted and framed in a solid wood frame under plexiglass (for safe shipping), overall dimensions approximately 23.5'' x 19''. There are two versions of this engraving, one version issued to wounded soldiers and another issued to soldiers killed in action. No fading, rich original black color. Much creasing in the image. Please review all images to determine condition.
Rare to have identity and service record for these family pieces. Presents beautifully.
