Bottom line up front the motor will have to come out of this bike to repair the dreaded (ADG) this acronym is for Alternator Drive Gear.
I have been told by research that all 1800 Gold Wings from 2001 through 2015 can have this problem. To be clear it is about 15% of these years that develop this problem. The part costs are about 0.00 but the steep cost is the labor in removing the motor to repair it.
This bike looks great, runs great, no smoke, shifts beautifully and has no other issues above the mentioned paragraph in this listing. The bike can be taken for a long test ride even with this problem. The noise is predominant at routine idle but a slight raise on the throttle brings the RPM up and the motor whispers as it should. The bike has very low mileage below 40,000 miles.
Obviously, I am looking to sell this bike to an experienced mechanic or someone who has the resources to get these repairs done at a reasonable cost. I do not.
