Design.
The quarter’s reverse, designed by Donna Weaver and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill, depicts the west of two elevated kivas that are part of the Chetro Ketl Complex and features the north wall of Chetro Ketl andthe north wall of the canyon. Inscriptions include CHACO CULTURE, NEW MEXICO, 2012 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
Obverse show portrait of George Washington, the first President of the United States.The portrait was originally designed by John Flanagan and has been seen on quarters (with minor variations) since 1932. Obverse inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, QUARTER DOLLAR and Mint mark.
