  • Condition: This item is from the estate. It is from the late 19th Century and it is signed Alfred Field & Co. Sheffield. It has a pearl handle and comes with the sheath which I believe is original to the piece. Please note there are some marks on the double edged blade - most likely some pitting as it has been stored away since the 1960's. The knife is 8-1/2" end to end. The sheath shows wear!

    From the internet:   Alfred Field opened a Hardware Store in Birmingham in 1836, which then developed into opening a Sheffield Office in 1876.  He died in1884 and his son continued to run the business as Alfred Field & Co. from 1892 to 1913.  This compact yet lethal
    blade
    was designed to be easily concealed, and used for self defense.
