Antique Boston Terrier Bulldog Dog Cast Iron Doorstop
This is a genuine old piece but it is NOT an original by Hubley.
I found this antique cast iron Boston Terrier doorstop recently at a sale. There were many companies (Hubley, National Foundry, Albany Foundry, etc...) that produced these doorstops in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They were most popular during the 1920s – 1940s.
Many of them were made out of two pieces. Judging by the paint, smooth metal/edges, and seams that are a tight fit, one can tell it is an old quality repro and not one of the later 20th century repros. The paint is original and authentic though I feel like the eyes and mouth could have been touched up some time ago.
