Antique Boston Terrier Bulldog Dog Cast Iron Doorstop
This is a genuine old piece but it is NOT an original by Hubley.
I found this antique cast iron Boston Terrier doorstop recently at a sale. From my research I found that there were many companies (Hubley, National Foundry, Albany Foundry, etc...) that produced these doorstops in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They were most popular during the 1920s – 1940s.
Many of them were made out of two pieces. Judging by the paint, smooth metal/edges, and seams that are a tight fit, one can tell it is an old quality repro and not one of the later 20th century repros. The paint is original and authentic though I feel like the eyes and mouth could have been touched up some time ago.
