    Scarce original vintage press photograph shows French civilians walking past wreckage of bombed out buildings in St. Die-Des-Vosges France.
    Full caption and press stamps on back (see scan).
    Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, were 2,000 houses were destroyed, burned for five days after having been set alight on 14 November and was liberated by the US Army on 23 November. It was the most-destroyed city of eastern France during the war.
    Photograph measures 7 x 9 inches and is in excellent condition with no bends, tears, or creases and is very sharp and has strong tones with good contrast and clarity.
