Glacial Acetic Acid, also known as ethanoic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula of CH
3
COOH. It is the main component of vinegar, which is typically made between 5% and 10% concentration mixed with water. It has a distinctive sour taste and pungent smell. Acetic acid is used widely for descaling, as a chemical reagent and as a food additive. In household uses, it is an excellent weed killer and for use in foods and cooking.
Glacial acetic acid Freezes at 62°F. In lower concentrations with water, the freezing point lowers to below the freezing point of water. As the solution becomes more heavily concentrated with water, it will freeze close to 32°F.

This is my second purchase of Acetic Acid. I'm using it to kill a weed called Equisetum arvense more colloquially known as horsetail.
I dilute the acid to 25% and apply it with a garden sprayer. Within hours the horsetail turns brown and by the next day it is
completely bleached out and it looks like it has been dead for weeks. It is the least expensive way I have found to purchase
horticultural vinegar. It does take a bit of doing to dilute it down, it's 98% pure acid and you need to be careful.
One tip for pouring is to pull out the pour spout which can take some doing and to set the pail on its side with the spout at the top.
To fill your container roll the barrel until acid comes out."
