    Description

Heinrich Hoffman was a Czechoslovakian glassmaker who moved to Paris France in the early 1900's to pursue greater opportunities for his glass business. His glass mark is a butterfly molded into the reverse side of the glass. This lovely crystal open salt dish bears that butterfly mark as well as a beautiful reverse carved and hand painted Boston Terrier head study.  The process is called intaglio. The open salt dish would be available at each place setting, along with a tiny spoon, so that the dinner guest could salt their meal to their liking. The Victorians loved those details and today we can enjoy what is left of those treasures. This piece measures 2 3/4" long by 1 3/4" wide, and is just under 3/4" tall. A fine treasure for the Boston Terrier collector.
