Description
A superb and rare photo of theLaverda 750 GT twin of 1969
.
The famous Laverda 750cc twin model series entered production in 1968.
They replaced the 650 twin, of which only 52 were made when the 750 was introduced.
The forefather of the 750s, the 650, was the first in a long line of large capacity Laverda twin cylinder motorcycles. The 650 was the forefather of the famous GT and SF series, and even pure bread competition machines like the famous SFC were derived from the original Laverda 650 which was first shown to the public at the London Motorcycle Show in 1966.
The
750 GT
and its more sportive brother, the 750 S, were the
first
Laverda 750
models
to enter production.
The GT’s magnificent and very well made
743,92 cc twin
cylinder engine had a bore and stroke of 80 x
74 mm
.
It could deliver a more then healthy power output of 52 hp at 6,900 r.p.m.
This was more then enough to propel the twin from Breganze to a top speed of
115 mph
(184 kmh )!
No wonder that the Laverda twins immediately became popular in racing.
It was a sign of things to come!
In the
USA
, Laverda was also marketed under the
American Eagle
name.
A very nice
non period
photo that reflects a wonderful era of Laverda’s glorious history in a wonderful way.
Therefore it is printed in a nice large format of ca. 8" x 10" (ca. 20 x
25 cm
).
