    M1 Rifle Gas Lock.
    This is the
    "hump style",
    which is  correct for
    Springfield, Harrington & Richardson or International Harvester,
    produced during this period.  This is a used USGI Lock, in very good to excellent condition.  The Parkerized finish is a light gray.  This is not a copy or a fake!  The condition is clear in the photographs; however, please keep in mind that you are viewing the part magnified several  times greater than normal size.  In nearly all cases, the part will look better than in the attached photographs.  In any event, what you see is what you get.
