The item for sale is 4 Ounces (by weight) of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Etchant. Mixed with water, 4 Ounces makes 16 Fluid Ounces (473 mL) of Etching Solution; which will etch approximately 280 square inches of single-sided circuit board (with average coverage). Use ground planes to make most efficient use of the etchant and better circuits.
NOTE: This is NOT Ferric Chloride solution. This is colorless and odorless non-staining oxygenating etchant. It is much safer than Ferric Chloride (does not produce Chlorine or any fumes whatsoever—save for a tiny amount of pure Oxygen as it etches).
FREE EXPEDITED SHIPPING!
Item ships in a 4-fluid ounce HDPE plastic screw-top bottle. The screw top is shrink-wrapped and the bottle is sealed in plastic to ensure a spill-free journey.

SUGGESTED USE:
As the etchant dissolves the Copper from the board it will turn a light green but the solution remains perfectly clear and you can easily view the circuit board to monitor the etching progress. This is much better than Ferric Chloride which turns opaque brown / black very quickly.
This product is also faster than Ferric Chloride at all temperatures; and requires little or no agitation. Etching time varies with temperature but is usually 5-15 minutes. This product works best (Fastest) at 122 Degrees Fahrenheit (50 degrees Centigrade) but will work at room temperature almost as fast. No heaters or water bath needed.
This product produces small bubbles of Oxygen as it works, when etching both sides of a double sided board it is advisable to flip the board occasionally to avoid the buildup of bubbles on the underside of the board which may slow the etching process in the area where the bubble accumulates, Etching double-sided boards vertically is also a solution.
The mix ratio is very tolerant, and does not need to be exact; it is advisable to mix just what you need for a board in small amounts at a time for maximum efficiency. If the solution becomes exhausted, add a tiny amount of the powder to finish the job. The solution will keep for a few days after being mixed but will lose some of its power to dissolve metal over time. Store any unused etchant outdoors in a plastic bottle with a vent to prevent buildup of oxygen.
Spent solution can be neutralized with Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate). The spent solution contains Copper Sulfate.
