    Description

    Snead WW1 VICTORY LAMP NOVEMBER 11, 1918 Made from an AMERICAN/FRENCH 75mm shell -
The information here is accurate to the best of our knowledge; we are double checking the details and will update if needed. Please note the picture of the lamp on and working was taken yesterday; today for some reason it will not turn on. We are not electricians but will consult with one.
This likely came from our grandparents' attic, as there was an antique dealer in Zanesville Ohio in the family... From clean and healthy smoke-free home.
This lamp was made at a time when "The War to End All Wars" had just ended and the world was ready to move-on to times of PEACE! Inscribed around the base in the famed "BEAT THEIR SWORDS TO PLOWSHARES" phrase that represented the World moving from WAR too PEACE. This lamp was created to encourage this spirit of turning weapons of WAR into useful peace-time items. When originally sold, these lamps included a booklet describing the "SPIRIT" of the lamp. Small glass shade included. (The large linen shade is shown here as example only.)
    Dimensions:  Height 27" - Base width 6.5" - top shade width 6"
What appears to be the original  manufacturer's label was taped to the bottom and is yellowed but readable in the picture shown.
We also show a close-up of some of the signs of age which personally i think add to the authenticity and rustic appeal, but the new owner can polish it up as desired.

    Thank you.
