    A WWII USAF
    (US Army Air Corps)
P51D mustang fighter plane error 2021P US quarter Tuskegee Airmen.
Clearly visible and authenticated die break error under the fighter plane wing in the foreground.
No magnification needed.  On the US mint design, there is nothing under the wing, but on this coin it looks like landing gear or armaments.
I've asked several collectors and amateur WWII historians what this error looks like and here are some of the responses:
    WWII armaments.
Supplemental fuel tank for fighter planes.
    Landing gear.
    Ball turret gunner.
Hybrid fighter plane fitted with seized, advanced enemy WWII technology: the Messerschmitt ME262 wing mounted jet engine.
Photos taken with different lighting.  Obverse shows some mint staining (common US mint "milk" stain)
I am grateful to the US Mint for honoring the Tuskegee airmen, and all those who served, including spouses that also had to deal with the physical and psychological effects of war, both during and after the conflict.
