    Description

Vintage Franklin Mint Proof-Like Domestic Gaming Token Set
    1967 Series Group 14 - No. 0383
You are bidding on a set of 4 Domestic Gaming Tokens - 1967 Series - Group 12.  This set was produced by the Franklin Mint and are still sealed in the original shrink-wrapped card.  As stated, this is a Proof-Like Specimen Set, No. 0383 and is in original condition as issued by the Franklin Mint, although there is some tarnishing to the Sterling and brass tokens as seen in the photos. A description of each token follows:
    From right to left:
    1. Hacienda Hotel & Casino- Sterling Silver Gaming Token from the Hacienda Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada. On the front the token features a vaquero riding a horse and reads "Sterling" beneath.  The text on the back reads, "
    Las Vegas -
Hacienda Hotel & Casino" and features a couple of rolling dice.
    2.  Hacienda Hotel  & Casino - Solid Franklin Brass
    Half Dollar
Gaming Token from the Hacienda Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada.
    The token features  a
    vaquero riding a horse
    on the front.
The text on the back reads, "
    Las Vegas -
Hacienda Hotel & Casino" and features a couple of rolling dice.
    3.  Kit Carson Club - Gaming Token made of Solid Franklinium II (a copper-nickel alloy) and featuring the image of a young Kit Carson holding a rifle and reading, "Kit Carson Club." The back features a large number 1 and reads, "Kit Carson Club - Carson City, Nevada."
    4.  The Pit  - Gaming Token
made of Solid Franklinium II (a copper-nickel alloy) and featuring the images of a pick & shovel and a star and reading, "The Pit."
The back features the image of The Pit Casino's large sign.
Casino tokens were first produced by the Franklin Mint for Harrah's Reno and Lake Tahoe casinos in 1965, when the rising price of silver made the use of actual silver dollars
for gaming purposes problematic. Good only in the issuing casino, these coins could be dropped into slot machines
    or tossed on a card
table to place a bet. Eventually, the coins themselves became collectibles.
This wonderful set of 1967 Series Group 14 Domestic Gaming Tokens (1 of which is Sterling Silver), will be a fine addition to any collection of vintage Gaming Tokens and Casino memorabilia.
