Description
This World War I-era medal honors General John J. Pershing, who is famed as the commander of the American Expeditionary Force on the West Front, 1917-1918. The obverse has a very high-relief (three-dimensional) bust of Pershing, with his name along the lower rim and the wordsOUR LEADER IN FRANCE
along the upper rim.
The reverse has six flags, with the U. S. flag in detail - with the words
OLD GLORY AND THE FLAGS OF OUR ALLIES
along the rim.
This medal measures approximately 1-1/4" (32 mm) in diameter, and it is composed of bronze (or perhaps brass).
This item is in very fine condition, with light wear, signs of handling, toning, and limited soiling, and it remains bright.
