    Description

These rarely seen playing cards from World War One were designed to help the Doughboys by letting them "Play Cards and Learn French". This 52 card deck of "Playanlern" playing cards was made by Levis & Cook of Chicago in 1918.This deck is complete with 52 cards, each of which is enhanced with French translations and pronunciations of English phrases, comes in its original box. The cards are
exceptionally clean and crisp and still have the gold guilting on the outer edges. The box shows some wear but nothing serious.
    Stamp :
This stamp was in use from 1894 to 1917. The text is 'PLAYING CARDS - ACT OF AUG. 1894 - TWO CENTS' and 'U.S. - I.R.'. The stamp was cancelled by the U.S.P.C.CO. with the date 1-4-1917. (weird)
