World War I US Home Front New England Boys Tobacco Fund
. The letter has a facsimile signature of one of the Committee Members heading up the drive to provide New England Soldiers with Cigarettes and Tobacco Products. The letter was addressed to N.N. Hill Brass Company following up on donations for smokes. There is a nice tribute to the 26th Yankee Division, though this drive also includes boys from the 76th and 12th Divisions.
The 26th Yankee Division is doing occupation duty. General Edwards is home commanding Department after leading the YD to Victory at Soissons, Chateau Thierry and St. Mihiel. He references that the wounded and disabled of the Division are coming home and the drive needs to provide them, also, with smokes and not just those still "over there" in the AEF.
This is a neat piece on the Home Front backing the men from New England in the service. It is suitable for framing. The date it was written is ominous, December 7, 1918, 23 years to the day before Pearl Harbor. It is 103 years old and in fair to fair plus condition.

Background:
This was one of many drives to provide the soldiers in France with some of the comforts of home. It unfortunately got a lot of the men hooked on smoking with the preponderance of free tobacco products, including my grandfather.
