    Description

As most of you will know the 16th was the famous "Lafayette, we have returned!" regiment and the first to see, fight, and lose men on French Soil during WWI; and they lost many more men in  defensive battles of Ansauville, Cantigny and Coullemelle.  However, the regiments most gallant action was the liberation of the village of Fleville in the Argonne and obviously the Muse Argonne offensive.
I am not certain that this is a piece by a member of the 16th - - but I can't figure any other reason why the shell would be inscribed that way. Anyone with an alternate interpretation is welcome to send it by message.
    Clearly marked "Argonne".
I took these images outdoors in indirect sunlight against plain white posterboard.
    No fancy lighting or editing.
I will send this safely boxed by USPS mail.
If you have any question, please ask before buying; I want to make sure that everyone is happy with their finds.
    Thank you for looking.
