    Description:
    Really unique piece of Trench Art.  This is what I have learned about it, but keep in mind, I do not claim to be an expert.  I do what research I can and leave it up to you, the buyer, who typically knows what they are looking for and may even correct me (which is fine).
    The engravings are a Lighthouse with an arched door and steps leading inside, a sailboat with "le penible" inthe sail, waves, seagulls,  and "Georges - Leygues"
    The bottom has this:
    Lot 1942
    2- 13
    a triangle with an L in it
    MK1
    AL
    40MN
    WO=1 MK XXI
    Georges Leygues was a French Politician of the Third Republic.  During his time as Minister of Marine, Sept 24, 1920 - January 16, 1921  he worked with the Navy's Chief of staff Henri Salaun in unsuccessful attempts to gain naval re-armament priority for government funding over army rearmament such as the Maginot Line.  He was commissioned into the French Navy in 1937.
    Measurements: Approximately 6.5" x 2.5"
